Meet Nick Hall

ABOUT NICK HALL

Hey guys, my name is Nick, and I’m an evangelist. More importantly, I’m a husband, dad, friend, and child of God.

As a kid growing up in rural North Dakota, I had one goal. Believe it or not, it was to be the greatest basketball player of all time. Being an evangelist wasn’t exactly at the forefront of my mind.

Fast forward to college, I felt called to step away from my college basketball scholarship, and go all in on a calling to tell the world about Jesus. The culture back then wasn’t much different than today, so many people without the hope that Jesus alone can give. As a college freshman, I knew I was put on earth to do one thing—put Jesus at the pulse of my generation.

By the grace of God, I’ve been able to share the message of Jesus with millions around the world. But this message isn’t just for me to share, it’s a message the world needs you to share. That’s why I’m committed to unleashing evangelists everywhere, so that together, we can reach the world and share the hope of Jesus with everyone.

I couldn’t live out this calling if it weren’t for the love and support of my wife, Tiffany. Together, we have three children we are raising to know and love Jesus.

With every fiber of my being, I believe this is a revival generation and God is on the move. Jesus is still leaving the 99 to seek and save the lost. Will you partner with me to share the gospel to a world in need?

— Nick Hall, Evangelist, Founder & President of Pulse Evangelism, CEO of The Table Coalition, & author of Reset.

NICK AND PULSE EVANGELISM

Nick Hall started a grassroots movement as a college student and has spent the last 23 years traveling the world to meet people, like you, where they are, tell them that they matter, and share Jesus with them. As a student at North Dakota State University, God moved in Nick’s life leading him to write an English 320 proposal titled “Pulse.” It was a 15 page proposal to see his campus, and generation, changed with the hope of Jesus. At the time, depression, substance abuse, and suicide were impacting too many of Nick’s friends and their campus, and many were leaving their faith entirely. That paper represented a God-birthed, student-led response to the needs all around them. That “Pulse” paper unleashed one of the largest student-led efforts in American history, launching the nonprofit now known as Pulse Evangelism.

Since its founding, Pulse Evangelism has shared the hope of Jesus to over 330 million people through live events, digital ministry, local revival gatherings, and evangelism training. More than two million people have responded to the Gospel and been connected back to discipleship through the local Church.

What is an evangelist?

In the New Testament, Paul tells his mentee, Timothy, to “do the work of the evangelist” and in Ephesians, Paul lists the evangelist as one of five offices God gave the Church for the equipping of the saints.

Early Gospel accounts even listed the authors as “evangelists” simply because they were heralds of the Good News. Jesus walked out his calling as an evangelist every time he met with, cared for, and shared hope with those who were far from God.

Not that long ago, there were many who carried the title “evangelist.” Today the term has largely gone missing in action.

Without the evangelist, those far from God are easily seen as enemies or opponents, rather than image bearers of God who have yet to experience the life changing message of Jesus. The evangelist sees every corner of humanity as an opportunity to turn modern-day Saul’s to Paul’s.

Throughout Scripture and history, we see the evangelist having two unique roles in the body of Christ: First, the evangelist exists to tell people the Good News of Jesus. Second, the evangelist exists to encourage and equip every believer to do the same, living on mission to seek and save those who currently do not know Jesus.

When you think about evangelism, what do you think about? For many the term has become associated with a pressure-filled sales pitch, or even some scandal of a public minister.

Evangelism is actually about the greatest message the world has ever known, the Good News of Jesus. And while the truth of the Gospel never changes, I believe that evangelism is more about listening than speaking. It’s a God-given, lifelong adventure of seeing and listening to those around us. It’s listening with care to those around us, while listening to what God wants to say to each individual.

We are living in a famine of people being seen and heard. Everyone is shouting, no one is listening. The greatest gift we can give those around us is simply being someone who cares enough to slow down and listen.

People are desperate to be seen. The evangelist stops to meet people where they are and hear their story. Our commitment to listening is the conduit for sharing the grace of God that saved us and can save them.

That’s the work of the evangelist.

The Prayer of the Evangelist

I want to invite you into the prayer I pray each day:

God, would you help me by your grace to lift my eyes and see the people around me that need love, hope, and a friend?
